As a student in the information technology major at Concordia Nebraska, you’ll have the opportunity to take specialized courses related to various aspects of the information technology profession. These classes, designed to equip you for leadership and service in various information technology careers, are taught by some of our esteemed faculty who have extensive experience in their fields.

CS 131
Computer Programming I 3 credits
The development of skill in translating problems into algorithms and implementing these algorithms into a high- level programming language. An emphasis will be placed on good programming style including structured programming techniques. An overview of the organization and operation of a computer system will be given.
IT 221
Emerging Technologies 3 credits
An introduction to web technologies and other emerging technologies. Topics covered include the Internet of Things, client-server development, digital media, user experience design, and software process models. Students will be tasked with applying computer concepts to real-world situations. Web development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP will be covered.

Information Systems 3 credits
Survey of the information systems discipline, including information technology, telecommunications and networks, systems design and development, and security/privacy issues. Improving organizational effectiveness through appropriate use of information system resources.
CS 442
Management Information Systems Design and Development 3 credits
The activity of creating a new business information system. Systems investigation, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and review.
IT 311
Cybersecurity 3 credits
Data and systems security; cybersecurity principles; cyber-attacks and detection, vulnerability and risk assessment. Focus will be placed on implementation of cybersecurity systems including development, operation, analysis and testing.
CS 344
Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis 3 credits
A course which will apply analysis and design techniques to non-numeric algorithms which act on data structures. Algorithm analysis and design criteria will be utilized in the selection of methods for data manipulation in such areas as database management, memory management, and system design.
BUS 343
Operations Management 3 credits
A functional study of operational concepts as applied to managing the production of goods and services within a variety of environments such as profit, nonprofit, service and manufacturing-oriented organizations.
