Lane Schoff is a junior from Bertrand, Nebraska, studying agricultural education with concentrations in secondary and public education. He participates in the shooting sports team and the Uzziah Scholars. Schoff found his way to Concordia through an admissions counselor giving a presentation to high school seniors in his church’s youth group.

When asked about Concordia and its agricultural education program, Schoff said he loves the Concordia community, and how many hands-on opportunities students in his program are given. “Concordia is different from other universities in the sense that we have such a close-knit community that loves Jesus and being together. Concordia’s ag education program is different…by how hands-on it is and how you immediately get professional experience as a freshman until you graduate.”

When asked about his Concordia experience, Schoff mentioned both extracurriculars and how the experience has affected his faith. “My favorite experience so far at Concordia is the amazing athletics we have from volleyball to basketball and many other sports…Concordia is doing an amazing job at helping my faith by strengthening my relationship in God through classes, leadership and stewardship.”

“Concordia is different from other universities in the sense that we have such a close-knit community that loves Jesus and being together.”

Schoff stated that the hands-on and professional learning that he’s been receiving in the program for the past two years will strongly benefit his career later in life. Part of this is due to the work of his professors. “My professors help me discover my purpose by showing me aspects of the professional world and how I can make a difference in the career that I want to go into.”

After graduation, Schoff wants to be an agriculture teacher. “[I want to] teach my students the beauty and amazing aspects of agriculture.”

Schoff’s family, his parents, Chris and Amy, and his siblings, Allyson and Cort, own a ranch where they raise cattle. Schoff enjoys studying in the Dunklau Center for Science, Math and Business, and in his free time, hunting, football, weightlifting and ranching.

At Concordia Nebraska, we believe in promoting the well-being of God’s creation through a Christ-centered education with our bachelor’s degree in agriculture.
