From providing 24/7 patrols and emergency response services to offering safety education and maintaining secure facilities, the campus security team works tirelessly to protect and serve the Concordia community.

Emergency Alerts

Concordia University, Nebraska’s AlertAware is used to update Concordia students, faculty and staff with time-sensitive information during critical events or emergencies through voice, email and text messaging to provide details on appropriate response. 

For current students, faculty and staff:

Faculty, staff and students can provide their most current contact information through the portal

  1. Sign into the portal at portal.cune.edu.  
  2. Click on “Academic Life” (for students) or “Office Life” (for employees) in the top left corner of your browser.  
  3. In the Banner Self-Service gray section in the center of your screen, click on Personal Information, then Update CUNEAlert Information, which should open in a new tab.  
  4. Fill out the fields on this screen as completely as possible.  
  5. Press Submit.

Equipment Registration

To help maintain a safe and organized campus environment, we encourage you to register bikes and equipment such as laptops, computers and gaming systems with campus security.  

Registration can aid in the identification and recovery of lost or stolen property.

Lost and Found

Along with keeping Concordia University, Nebraska's environment safe, we want to keep the possessions of the students, faculty, staff, and guests safe as well. Campus Security will handle, safeguard, and return all lost items to the Concordia residents, employees, and guests. Certain items will be kept for a specified retention period and then removed from the premises. For more information and details, view the Lost and Found Policy.

If you would like to report a lost or stolen item, or claim a lost item, contact Campus Security or visit the Security office. 

Parking and Vehicle Registration

Concordia University, Nebraska requires all vehicles used on campus to be registered with campus security. You’ll need to register your vehicle to receive your parking pass and have access to parking on campus.

Report a Security Incident

The safety of our campus community is a shared responsibility. If you see or experience something concerning, please report it. Even situations that may seem minor can help us prevent future incidents.

Emergencies & Crimes in Progress

Call 911 immediately if there is:

  • A crime in progress
  • Immediate danger to yourself or others
  • A medical emergency or fire
  • An active threat or suspicious person posing immediate risk

If calling from a campus phone, you may also contact Campus Security at 402-643-3033.

When calling, be prepared to share:

  • Your exact location (building name, room number, or nearby landmark)
  • What is happening
  • Descriptions of people involved
  • Whether weapons are involved

Non-Emergency Crimes & Incidents (Not in Progress)

For crimes or safety concerns that are not currently happening, contact:

Examples of non-emergency incidents include:

  • Theft discovered after the fact
  • Vandalism
  • Suspicious activity that is no longer occurring
  • Property damage
  • Harassment without immediate danger

Campus Security will document the incident and determine appropriate follow-up. This documentation is essential for any further investigation and helps ensure appropriate action is taken. Your cooperation is vital in helping to resolve the situation and prevent future occurrences.

Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report

Student & Faculty Identification Cards

Campus Security is responsible for the creation, issuance, and safekeeping of official Student and Faculty identification cards. These IDs are used for campus access, identification, and safety purposes.

ID Creation & Issuance

Campus Security creates and issues official University ID cards for:

  • Students
  • Faculty
  • Staff
  • Approved affiliates (as applicable)

ID cards are issued by the Campus Security Office upon verification of eligibility and identity.

To receive an ID, individuals must:

  • Appear in person at the Security Office. Hours are Monday-Friday: 8am-4pm. 
  • Provide required documentation (e.g., government-issued ID)
  • Be listed as active in the University system (enrolled, employed, or approved)

Replacement IDs may be issued for lost, stolen, or damaged cards in accordance with university policy.

Title IX Support and Reporting

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. At Concordia University, Nebraska, Title IX includes protections related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and other forms of sex-based misconduct. The University is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning and working environments for all students, faculty, and staff.
