Concordia Nebraska names Morganne Schreiner as Chief Financial Officer

Concordia University, Nebraska recently announced that the university has named Morganne Schreiner ‘14 GR ‘15 as the university’s new chief financial officer. Schreiner previously served the university as director of strategic financial planning, analysis and investments.
"Morganne Schreiner is incredibly committed to Concordia’s mission, brings a tremendous skillset in financial modeling and forecasting, is a systems and strategic thinker, cares deeply about the people around her, and has a thorough understanding of our strategic plan and what is needed to help build a strong financial future from which to live out Concordia’s mission,” said Concordia University, Nebraska President Dr. Bernard Bull. “Concordia is blessed to have such a leader as our next CFO, and I am grateful that God has provided such a gifted and mission-minded partner in the Gospel.”
Schreiner is alumnus of the university and has a bachelor of science in accounting and a master of business administration with emphasis in finance, both from Concordia Nebraska through the university’s bachelor to master’s program. She has served at the university for five years.
In her previous role, Schreiner was responsible for on-demand financial analysis of current or proposed initiatives, administering the university’s endowment, project management for financial initiatives and some non-financial initiatives, financial aid leveraging management and financial forecasting. She was also co-lead for the university’s Paul Scholars initiative, was involved in university-wide reporting for undergraduate and graduate programs.
“Concordia is blessed to have such a leader as our next CFO, and I am grateful that God has provided such a gifted and mission-minded partner in the Gospel.”
“I am thankful for everyone that has come before in this role, and all the systems and processes they have developed to get the university where it is today. I am excited to build on that work and optimize it to carry Concordia Nebraska into the future for many young men and women to be trained to be a blessing to their church and the world in their chosen vocations,” she said. “I think the college years are pivotal and formative in a young person’s life. I am excited to be a part of the framework of a place where young people can develop their God given talents in a God-fearing and supportive environment.
In her new role, she will be responsible for high-level management of audit, budget and all transactions of the university, regulatory financial compliance, the annual final budget, bond covenant compliance, strategic financial planning with the president and cabinet and financial forecasting
“The people at Concordia Nebraska make it a special place to work,” she added. “I have worked in for-profit settings, and it does not compare to a faith-based setting. There is a difference between working in a place where a person’s daily activities are just a job, and a place where their daily activities are a vocation, and a way to express God’s love to the people around them. We all make mistakes, and it is not perfect, but the goal of most here is to live in the center of God’s plan for them and to love their neighbor.”
Schreiner is one of nine children, seven of which have graduated from Concordia Nebraska. Several of her aunts and uncles graduated from the university, as well, and her maternal grandfather taught at the university. She said university professor emeriti Stan Obermuller and current university Professor of Business Administration Dr. Andrew Langewisch were pivotal in introducing her to accounting, leading her to the role she has today. She and her husband Jared have one son, Joe, and live in the Seward area.
