Professor of Sociology

Dr. Kathy Miller came to Concordia in Fall of 1999. After completing her Ph.D., Miller taught at Purdue as a visiting professor and advised history and pre-law students for two years. She is the pre-law advisor at Concordia and also advises pre-social work, behavioral science, and criminal justice students.

Miller teaches criminal justice, sociology, social policy, social theory, cultural anthropology, criminology and introduction to sociology and social work courses at Concordia. Miller has also developed courses such as special topics in criminology and introduction to criminal justice. She also serves as the co-faculty advisor for both the Law and Justice Club and Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honor Society chapter on campus. Miller advises students who are interested in attending law school and she has taught training courses for the Law School Admittance Test, in addition to being a pre-law school advisor for more than 20 years.

Miller also advises students who are interested in a career in law enforcement, corrections and social services. She earned her bachelor of arts in life science from Drake University, her master of arts in American studies and sociology from Purdue University and her Ph.D. in American studies and sociology from Purdue University.
