Kathy L’Heureux, a proud 1997 graduate of Concordia University, Nebraska, has dedicated her career to supporting the growth and well-being of students and families across various educational settings. She returned to Concordia in 2023 to serve as Director of Counseling Services and also teaches as an adjunct professor in the university’s graduate programs in School Counseling and Marriage and Family Counseling.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative, emphasizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She has extensive experience addressing trauma, abuse, grief, stress and anxiety, and integrates a wellness perspective and holistic approach into her work. L’Heureux is passionate about guiding others to discover their strengths and embrace their journey toward healing and personal growth.
At Concordia, L’Heureux teaches courses in group counseling, abnormal psychology, trauma-informed classroom practices, school counseling program development and college and career readiness. She is passionate about equipping the next generation of counselors to serve with compassion, skill and faith.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Concordia Nebraska, a Master of Science in Education in School Counseling and Professional Counseling from Concordia University Wisconsin and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Concordia Wisconsin’s LICI program.
L’Heureux and her husband, Mark—also a 1997 Concordia Nebraska graduate—live in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they are members of Christ Lincoln. Mark serves as Executive Director of Schools and Facilities at Christ Lincoln. Together, they are raising four children. In her free time, L’Heureux enjoys gardening, traveling and spending quality time with her family.
