Dr. Sara Moore has served at Concordia University, Nebraska since 2024. She brings a strong background in psychology, criminology and criminal justice, along with nearly a decade of professional experience working with adjudicated youth in the juvenile justice system.

Moore’s teaching philosophy is guided by Bloom’s taxonomy, emphasizing the development of critical thinking skills, practical understanding of course material and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world settings. Her teaching and research focus on improving interactions and outcomes for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

Dr. Moore earned a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2019, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma. She also completed a Graduate Certificate in Managing Juvenile and Adult Populations from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2016. She holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Theology from Concordia University Irvine. She was a member of Psi Chi during both her undergraduate and graduate studies.

Her research interests center on juvenile justice issues, particularly mentoring youth involved in the juvenile justice system. She has published articles on juvenile mentoring, juvenile evening reporting centers and the role of social control in deterring sexual offending. She has also completed professional reports on topics including the Nebraska Intake Risk Assessment Instrument, status offenders and Nebraska alternatives-to-detention programs.

Sara and her husband, Mark, live in Nebraska with their two children, Trent and Jaxon.
