Dr. Anne Hobbs came to Concordia University, Nebraska in 2026 as a professor of sociology. Prior to this, she was a research faculty and the director of the Juvenile Justice Institute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has been the lead on dozens of program evaluations and grants that examine the juvenile and criminal justice system.
Dr. Hobbs earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2011, specializing in inequality. She also holds a J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a B.A. in English from the University of San Francisco, with an emphasis in philosophy through the Saint Ignatius Institute.
She has been recognized for her leadership and excellence in juvenile justice and education, including the 2024 Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association Commitment to Excellence in Leadership Award and the 2023 INSPIRE Women’s Excellence in Education Award. She was also awarded a U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award to Singapore by the International Education’s Council for International Exchange of Scholars (IIE/CIES).

Criminal Justice
Through the criminal justice program at Concordia Nebraska, you’ll learn to use scientific perspectives and methodologies to examine society’s response to crime in local communities and around the world.
