Senior Mayson Ostermeyer of Crofton, Nebraska, is majoring in physics with minors in math and computer science at Concordia University, Nebraska. He is also on the track and field team at the university.

“Concordia Nebraska isn’t just a place to earn a degree. It’s a place for fellowship and spiritual growth,” he said. “At Concordia, you really get to know your professors, and they genuinely care about each and every student.”

Ostermeyer was recruited to for the track and field team, but quickly fell in love with the university’s campus, small-town setting and supportive community during his first visit.

“I’ve loved being able to grow both academically and spiritually. I’ve come a long way as both a student and a Christian thanks to what I’ve learned here,” he said. “[My professors] are always willing to answer questions and give honest advice when I need it. I’ve changed my major and minors, and my professors were incredibly supportive throughout the whole process.”

After graduation, Ostermeyer plans to attend graduate school to study civil engineering.

“I hope to earn my master’s and then find a small-town community where I can live and work,” he said.

“Concordia Nebraska isn’t just a place to earn a degree. It’s a place for fellowship and spiritual growth. At Concordia, you really get to know your professors, and they genuinely care about each and every student.”

Ostermeyer said his time at the university and his work as a resident assistant have been incredibly beneficial, pushing him outside of his comfort zone and allowing him to grow socially. He said that his classes, social interactions and campus life have also served to strengthen his faith in Jesus Christ.

“Concordia offers so many ways to grow in your faith: chapel, praise events and more. As an RA, I even learned how to lead a Bible study, which is a valuable skill,” he said. “Concordia has done an amazing job helping me grow spiritually.”
