Concordia Nebraska announces new Uzziah Ag Scholars program participants

Concordia University, Nebraska’s Uzziah Ag Scholars program reflects the university’s mission to increase the number of future stewards of God’s earth, who will learn and serve as leaders in agriculture for the sake of others.
Uzziah Scholars is entering into its third year at Concordia. The program is built on four pillars: leadership, stewardship, learning and experience. Uzziah Scholars have the opportunity to receive a $7,000 annual scholarship, connect regularly with a mentor serving the field of agriculture, attend ag-related conferences and conventions, participate in domestic and international agricultural study tours, participate in an internship with an agriculturally based mission, attend an annual dinner with the president of the university, and many other hands-on learning opportunities. The group is led by Director Kellie Nelson.
"I am excited about this opportunity in Uzziah Ag Scholars because in the Bible Uzziah was a humble man who honored God through agriculture. As a follower of Christ, I strive to do the same through my work with farming, animals and eventually teaching.”
This year, the program admitted six new students. When asked about what they were excited for in the program, they had several responses.
Caden Beck said, "I know having worked in agriculture for the past 8 years (detasseling, working a sod farm, assisting as a farmhand at a pumpkin patch and now as a pivot irrigation technician) that there is something to be learned from every agricultural experience. I am excited about the opportunity to do study tours through the Uzziah Scholars program to continually enhance my academic experience and prepare me as a future farmer."
Kaelynn Crumbliss stated, "I am excited about this opportunity in Uzziah Ag Scholars because in the Bible Uzziah was a humble man who honored God through agriculture. As a follower of Christ, I strive to do the same through my work with farming, animals and eventually teaching. I am excited about the opportunity to be in this program and receive this scholarship because I have never been one to do traditional school sports, so the availability of an ag-related scholarship is an exciting opportunity, especially one with a Biblical foundation!"
Students who were admitted to Uzziah Scholars include:
Caden Beck
Myra Thomas
Benjamin Steffans
Kaelyn Crumbliss
Milan Babcock
Zachary Rabe
