Dr. Sue Showers serves as the program director of the Master of Education in Special Education at Concordia University, Nebraska. In this role, she provides leadership in curriculum development, faculty support, marketing and recruitment, admissions, student services and program assessment and accreditation. She joined Concordia in January 2022 and previously served as the Director of the Academic Resource Center and Disability Support Services.

Before coming to Concordia Nebraska, Dr. Showers spent nearly 25 years in K–12 special education, working as both a speech-language pathologist and a special education administrator.

Dr. Showers holds a B.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an Ed.D. in P–12 Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

She lives in Lincoln with her husband, Perry Showers. Together they have a blended family with three young adult children: Connor, Katlyn and Callie. A proud Air Force daughter, Showers spent much of her childhood moving around the country, though she has called the midwest home for most of her life. Outside of work, she enjoys baking sourdough, planting flowers, golfing, attending live music and theatre, reading, road trips and spending time with family and friends. Fall is her favorite season, Christmas is her favorite holiday, and she’ll choose the beach over the mountains any day.

She also volunteers with Clinic with a Heart, a faith-inspired organization providing healthcare to the uninsured and underinsured through a ministry of compassion and care.

“I think Concordia Nebraska is special in that it is a place that strives to create a community where family is important, faith development is encouraged, grace is given and people come together to serve others. ”
