Daisha Sorensen serves as the Director of Student Success at Concordia University, Nebraska, where she leads efforts in student retention, academic advising and career services. In this role, she oversees a team of first year coordinators who support both new and transfer students as they transition into college life and explore their academic and vocational goals.

Sorenson is passionate about helping students thrive. By working with students to identify their strengths, challenges and aspirations, she helps them craft academic plans that prepare them not only for graduation, but also for lives of service in the church and world.

A 2014 graduate of Concordia Nebraska, Sorenson holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in special education. She has served at the university for seven years and has been a called church worker for over a decade. Her favorite part of the job is the close relationships she forms with students—many of whom, she says, feel like family.

Sorenson is the proud mom of two young children, Sophia and Von III, and a black lab named Berkeley. Outside of her work at Concordia, she enjoys coaching Special Olympics, running and spending time at the gym.

“I’m blessed to walk alongside students from their first year all the way to graduation. Many students come to my office just to talk about life. I’m honored they feel comfortable with me. This truly is a family atmosphere. ”
