Calvin Rohde graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska in 2024 with high distinction, earning a degree in music education with a Lutheran Teacher Diploma. He was also awarded the school’s Outstanding Student Award in Music. While at Concordia, he studied piano with Elizabeth Grimpo, organ with Paul Soulek, and composition with David von Kampen, Jeffrey Blersch, and John Kosch.
Rohde is currently in his second year at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he is pursuing a master’s degree in piano pedagogy and performance. He studies piano with Mark Clinton and piano pedagogy with Brenda Wristen.
Rohde has been an active church musician for many years, leading worship from the piano, the organ, or as part of a worship band. He has served as a substitute or part-time organist in several churches, including Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City, Michigan; St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska; and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. He currently serves as director of music at St. Mark’s on the Campus Episcopal Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. In his private teaching, Rohde seeks not only to foster sound musicianship but also to cultivate confident leadership of congregational singing.
In his spare time, Rohde enjoys long-distance running. During his time as a student at Concordia, he was a multiple all-GPAC performer, winning one conference title (1000m) and one NAIA All-American award (mile). He also holds the program record in the outdoor 5000m. Currently, he maintains an active training and racing schedule with the Lincoln Running Company club team.
