“The people are my favorite thing about Concordia,” says elementary education and director of Christian education major Lauren Sperry. “Concordia is an awesome place and I definitely consider it home. The people here are really supportive and want you to succeed.”
Lauren initially chose Concordia because of its reputation for being a great school for future teachers. The location in Seward, a smaller, tighter-knit community, also made it the perfect fit for her. And she’s getting to learn as well. “The (education) program gives students plenty of real-world experience by sticking them in the classroom from day one.”
It’s been a great experience for Lauren, who is involved on campus in all sorts of ways, from being on the golf team and women’s chorale to participating in the Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ and swing dance clubs. “Concordia has a lot to offer between sports and activities,” she says. “There is always something to do.”
