There are a lot of people in productions that I would never have crossed paths with if not for theatre. It’s really cool when students at different places in their lives are working together to make something amazing.
Emily Kollbaum has been involved in theatre since she was able to talk. She’s always had a passion for performing, but she’d never thought about doing it as a career. Then she talked to her advisor. “I had gotten the lead in the spring and fall shows, and I had a theatre scholarship,” Emily says. “I went through four or five different majors, but it wasn’t until my advisor finally asked me what I was passionate about that I became a theatre major. I had to accept that I wanted a job that I loved, not just a job.”
Emily’s favorite thing about the theatre program at Concordia is that you don’t have to be a theatre major to be in the productions. “There are a lot of people in productions that I would never have crossed paths with if not for theatre,” she says. “It’s really cool when students at different places in their lives are working together to make something amazing.”
Those relationships are the heart of what makes Concordia great. “Concordia is a small school with big opportunities,” Emily says. “You can come here and make connections with students and professors who are from other places. Concordia’s got your back. If you come here, we’ve got you.”
