Staff Profile: James Jurchen, Director of IT Services

James Jurchen ‘99 has served as a church worker for 25 years, having served as a commissioned teacher in The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod high schools from 1991 to 2016, and serving at Concordia University, Nebraska since 2016. 

Jurchen received a bachelor of science degree in secondary education, a Lutheran Teacher Diploma and endorsements in instrumental music, math and computer science from Concordia Nebraska and is currently working to complete a master of science degree in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology

“I feel blessed to be able to participate in the mission of Christian education, both in the Lutheran high school system and now here at Concordia,” he said. 

During his service in Lutheran high schools, he served for three years as music director and technology coordinator at Orlando Lutheran Academy in Orlando, Florida, and served for 14 years as music director and technology coordinator at Lutheran High Northeast in Norfolk, Nebraska before joining the IT services department at Concordia Nebraska.  

 “Concordia Nebraska’s focus on academics and the personal and spiritual well-being of students has an impact on our student body that will benefit them for the rest of their lives,” he added. “Supporting the technologies that help facilitate many of our institutional operations and activities has allowed me to participate in this work, and I am honored to be able to continue supporting this mission into the future.”
