Music Students Perform Spring 2022 Chamber Recital

Concordia music students recently performed during the Spring 2022 Chamber Recital on April 1 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, presenting music by Antonio Vivaldi, Franz Schubert, James Erb, William Horsley, Euday L. Bowman, and Kendra Johnson.  

"Our music students have many opportunities to perform individually and as members of large ensembles. This recital, which takes place once every semester, gives them a chance to perform in small ensembles. These chamber groups are completely student-led, which means the students choose the music, learn their parts, and rehearse together.” said Dr. Elizabeth Grimpo, professor of music. “The students take great pride in their performances, and there's always a wonderful variety of music on the program, especially since this recital continues to grow in popularity." 

Students who performed at the Chamber recital were (listed in program order): 

Hannah Eatherton (junior, Sheboygan, Wis.) and Bekah Guilford (senior, Lincoln, Neb.), trumpet, with Dr. Elizabeth Grimpo, piano, on “Concerto for Two Trumpets” by Antonio Vivaldi.  

Anna Royuk (sophomore, Seward, Neb.), violin, Magdalene Hall (sophomore, Spring, Texas), viola, and Rose Grothaus, (senior, Lincoln, Neb.), on “Trio in B-flat Major, D471” by Franz Schubert.  

Makenna Clovis (junior, Albuquerque, N.M.), Olivia Leising (junior, Arapahoe, Neb.), and Renata Peperkorn, (junior, Rocklin, Cali.), singing soprano; Bekah Guilford and Bethany Zeckzer (senior, New Haven, Ind.) singing alto; Isaac Weander (sophomore, Norfolk, Neb.) and Caleb Zeckzer (sophomore, New Haven, Ind.), singing tenor; Jonathan Landrey (junior, Seward, Neb.), Nathan Pennington (junior, Lincoln, Neb.), and Calvin Rohde (sophomore, Reed City, Mich.) singing bass on “Shenendoah” arranged by James Erb. 

Kendra Johnson (freshman, Bellevue, Kan.) and Isabella Schmid (freshman, Rockford, Ill.) clarinet; Sadie Henson (freshman, Herrin, Ill.), piano, on “Demelza’s Dance” written by Willam Horsely. 

Hannah Eatherton and Bekah Guilford, trumpet; Alannah Stahl (sophomore, Saginaw, Mich.) horn; Jackson Munter (freshman, Ithaca, Neb.), and Sarah Weber (junior, Manchester, Iowa) trombone, and Ben Toenjes, (junior, Bakersfield, Calif.) tuba, on 12th Street Rag. 

Kendra Johnson (freshman, Council Bluffs, Iowa.), Katheryn Rice (freshman, Bellevue, Neb.) and Isabella Schmid, (freshman, Bellevue, Neb.) clarinet, on Into the Stratosphere.
