Get some ice cream (in town!)
What is the scoop, after all? Well, it’s that Seward has its own ice cream shop! What’s the Scoop is located at 430 Seward Street and offers a multitude of frozen treat flavors for lovers of chocolate, fruits, mint and more. Their ice cream is sourced from the Madison, Wisconsin-based Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company. For a midday pick-me-up or a late-night sweet treat, What’s the Scoop is the perfect place for college students in Seward.
Go bowling!
Did you know that Seward has a bowling alley? It’s true! At Spare Time Lounge & Grille, located at 123 S 4th Street, you can enjoy a game – or several games – of bowling with your friends. Regardless of your skill level, bowling is a great way to spend quality time with others and enjoy an evening out. Plus, you can enjoy a snack or a meal from Spare Time’s delicious menu while you’re there.
Visit Seward’s museum
The Nebraska National Guard Museum, located just north of downtown Seward, is a unique place to explore if you’re interested in military history, Nebraska history or historical artifacts. Even if you aren’t a “history buff,” you may enjoy walking through museums of any type – in this case, the National Guard Museum could be a great place to spend a Saturday morning!
Just drive around
Picture this: it’s seventy degrees outside, the sun is shining and your car windows are down. Now imagine that, but in the Nebraska countryside. Fortunately, you don’t have to imagine – spending half an hour or longer just driving around the picturesque landscapes of eastern Nebraska can take you right there. So get in your car, grab your friends and some snacks, and experience life in the moment!
Visit the Wellness Center
A recent addition to the Seward community, the Seward Wellness Center offers an over-50,000 square foot space for members to “bring health and wellness into their lives.” The center boasts a walking track, swimming pool, weight room and more. Memberships are reasonably priced and the center can be enjoyed by members during all seasons of the year – not just when it’s warm outdoors!
Spend time outside – right in your backyard!
When the “backyard” is just outside the dormitory, it really extends to all of Concordia’s campus. And on campus, there are many activities that you can use to fill your free time. Play some Frisbee in the quad, make use of the sand volleyball pit, or take a run on the Bulldog Stadium track. Whatever you choose to do on campus, it’s always a good idea to spend some time on Concordia’s grounds, either with friends or by yourself.
Seward, Nebraska isn’t that small of a town after all – with everything there is to do in the Seward area, you’ll be able to find things to do, whether over the weekend or on a relaxed weekday evening. Although it might take some creativity or thinking “outside the box,” there are always opportunities for enjoyment in Seward, Nebraska.
