Concordia Nebraska esports team Overwatch recently made the playoffs for the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) and on November 16 beat Northern Iowa University to advance to the semifinals.

Esports, short for electronic sports, is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.

The Overwatch team played their semifinal game against Wartburg College on November 30.  Although the team lost their match that evening, they are second in their division and will advance to the third place match where they will again play Morningside University on December 7.
The Concordia Overwatch team includes Collin Curtis, Tristin Kinderknect, Cody Bender, Andrew Fynaardt and Noah Leeper.

“We have had a great run this semester and I am glad we have a chance to compete against a fellow GPAC school in the third place match” explained Concordia Nebraska esports coach Ryan Hinds. “I am excited for this match and with this finish, we get a few points towards NECC nationals which take place at the end of the spring semester.”
