Concordia Nebraska announces 2026 homecoming weekend festivities

Concordia University, Nebraska invites university alumni and friends to campus September 18-20 for 2026 homecoming festivities at the university.  

"Concordia is looking forward to welcoming our alumni for a wonderful weekend of reunions, games and other events," said Jennifer Furr, senior director of outreach relations and engagement. "We thank God for the opportunity to have alumni and their families reconnect with one another and rediscover all their favorite Concordia memories."

Weekend festivities include a homecoming banquet, Athletic Hall of Fame induction, a homecoming tailgate, alumni and friends social and more. 

Homecoming games on Saturday, September 19 include:  

• Bulldog Football vs. Mount Mary University, Bulldog Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 

• Bulldog Volleyball vs. Hastings College, Friedrich Arena at 2:30 p.m. (JV) and 4 p.m. (Varsity) on Saturday, September 19 

The weekend will also include: 

• Guided walking tours of our campus and facilities  

• Prospective student visit day 

• Homecoming tailgate in Holthus Family Plaza 

• Alumni and friends social at Bottle Rocket Brewing on Saturday, September 19 at 8 p.m. 

The university’s annual Homecoming Banquet and Alumni Awards will take place on Saturday, October 19 in the Cattle Conference Room in Janzow Campus Center and includes a social hour, dinner, entertainment and more.  

Each year the Concordia Alumni Association honors alumni and friends for their service and accomplishments. This year’s Alumni Award Recipients are:  

• Alumnus of the Year: Johnny Bush '86 

• Young Alumnus of the Year: Madison Pitsch '19 

• Servant Leadership Award: Rebecca Tieman '79 

• Lifetime Service Award: Dr. Bernard Tonjes '74 

• Family Heritage Award: Boll Family 

• Lifelong Learner Award: Rev. Andy Becker GR '09 

• Honorary Bulldog Alumni Award: Rev. Russ Sommerfeld 

The Concordia University Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes former athletes, coaches, teams and others who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic programs at Concordia and who exemplify the Christian principles to which Concordia adheres. This year’s inductees – who will be honored during at a Friday, September 18 banquet event – include: 

• 2015-16 Women’s Track & Field 

• Rev. Dr. R. John Buuck ’58, multi-sport athlete 

• Kristen (Conahan) Vogt ’14, women’s basketball 

• Bret Walter ’96, men’s basketball 

• Nolan Zikas ’19, men’s golf
