About Concordia Nebraska’s Textbook Access Program
Concordia Nebraska’s Textbook Access Program provides Bulldogs with access to all required textbooks before the first day of class each semester. Beginning in Fall 2025, this new program gives all Bulldogs increased accessibility to all physical and digital course materials including textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, electronic books and other needed items at a single flat charge.
Benefits of Concordia Nebraska’s Textbook Access Program
- The Textbook Access Program charge will be reflected on your student billing each term. There are no out-of-pocket textbook costs, but some courses may require students to purchase additional, specialized materials or supplies.
- The Textbook Access Program ensures that all students have access to high-quality, low-cost course materials for all registered classes. Students enjoy a flat charge for books regardless of course, major or material format.
- Once your class registration is complete for the upcoming term, physical textbook selections will be mailed to campus for undergraduate students and delivered to homes for graduate students. Materials will arrive shortly before the start of the term. Digital material access information will be delivered via Blackboard.
- On-campus students can pick up or access materials on the first day of class without having to place individual orders or pay out of pocket.
- The program features a personalized website showing your courses as well as when, where and how course materials will be delivered. Digital materials are easily referenced through the program’s eLibrary and move with you as courses are added and dropped.
- You have a choice! While students are automatically enrolled in the Textbook Access Program, you have the option to opt out. If you opt-out by the deadline, the Textbook Access Program charge will be removed from your student account.
- Deadline to opt-out is add/drop day of each term. If you opt out, you will need to purchase all required textbooks on your own through alternate vendors, or you may purchase materials through the Textbook Access Program virtual bookstore.

FAQs
Where do I pick up my physical books?
Physical textbooks are delivered to graduate student’s homes and to the Bulldog Fan Shop in Janzow Campus Center on campus for all undergraduates. The Fan Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What happens if I don't pick up my books?
Failure to pick up your textbooks will not result in the removal of the Textbook Access Program charge. The charge will stand unless you formally opt out in Blackboard or on the bookstore website by the add/drop deadline for the term. If textbooks are not picked up by the add/drop deadline, they become the property of the university.
How do I access my digital course materials?
All digital course material access information will be provided to you on or before the first day of class. Depending on the item, materials will be available through Blackboard or through the Textbook Access Program. The eLibrary in your bookstore account will display a master list.
Do I need to return physical books at the end of the term?
No, you will own the textbooks at the end of the term. For digital course materials, you may have time limits on how long you can access items. You can review expiration dates in your bookstore eLibrary account.
How much does this cost?
The Textbook Access Program charge will be added to your student account as a low, flat charge of $325 per semester for undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours. For part-time and summer undergraduate students, the charge will be $23 per credit hour and $26 per credit hour for graduate students. Undergraduate billing statements will be mailed home from the Student Accounts Office. Graduate students do not receive paper billing statements, however, all students can view their student account in Banner Self Service.
How do I opt out of the Textbook Access Program?
Go to the bookstore website. Log in using your school credentials. Once logged in, click the opt out button at the top of the page. This is also where you can see the opt out deadline. You may also opt out in Blackboard using the opt out button, which will be available until the opt out deadline. If you opt out, you will need to purchase all required textbooks on your own through alternate vendors, or you may purchase materials through the Textbook Access Program virtual bookstore.
If I’m a graduate student, a part-time undergraduate student, or summer undergraduate student, and my class doesn’t have a textbook, why am I being charged?
The Textbook Access Charge is a single charge that is calculated by the number of credits you are taking. It is not based on whether your course itself requires a textbook. Since graduate students, part-time undergraduate students and summer undergraduate students are assessed tuition per credit hour, the charge follows the same method to calculate a total charge. It is recommended that you review your Textbook Access Charge and compare to textbook costs if you were to purchase independently as a result of opting out. You make the decision that’s best for you!
What happens if I add or drop a class?
For fall and spring UNDERGRADUATE students:
The flat charge of $325 applies to any full-time student registered for 12 or more credit hours.
For summer, or fall/spring part-time UNDERGRADUATE students:
The Textbook Access Program charge is assessed as $23 per credit hour, so any changes made to your registration PRIOR TO the add/drop deadline, will result in a charge recalculation according to number of credit hours.
For GRADUATE students:
The Textbook Access Program charge is assessed as $26 per credit hour, so any changes made to your registration PRIOR TO the add/drop deadline, will result in a charge recalculation according to number of credit hours.
The bookstore will continually check for new enrollments in classes up until the add/drop date, so new, needed materials will continue to be processed. When dropping a class, if physical items were delivered to you, you will receive an email with return instructions. For digital course materials that have not been accessed, codes will be deactivated, and you will no longer have access to the materials. If you have already accessed digital course materials for dropped courses, please contact the Textbook Access Program support team for further instructions.
What happens if I drop a course or choose to opt out before the deadline but after receiving a textbook, and fail to return the book?
You will be sent a pre-paid return label to provide a convenient and no-cost-to-you method for returning your book. If you fail to return a book, you may incur additional charges for the cost of the unreturned book.
What happens if physical items are damaged or destroyed?
If there is a problem with the items that were delivered, the bookstore will replace them as needed. Contact the Textbook Access Program via the Help Page.
What happens if I am missing a textbook or received the wrong one?
Contact the bookstore through the website for assistance. Include your email, course name, course section and the ISBN of the missing item.
