Chris Warneke

Hastings, Nebraska
God surrounded me with people who encouraged me as I began to consider going into the ministry.

A sophomore at Concordia, Christopher grew up in Hastings, Nebraska, and attended Heartland Lutheran High School in Grand Island. His dad is a pastor at Zion Lutheran in Hastings and his mom is a social worker at the Grand Island Veterans Home. His parents met at Concordia.

Chris never planned to go into the same vocation as his dad, but while attending high school he realized that God had blessed him with a skill set that is required to be a pastor.

“God surrounded me with people who encouraged me as I began to consider going into the ministry.”

Once Chris knew God was leading him to become a pastor, the college decision was simple.

“Concordia has a long history of preparing men and women for service and leadership within the church, and that’s why I chose Concordia.”

Chris is majoring in communications with a pre-seminary emphasis. He likes to connect with people on an interpersonal level. Christopher has found that community of support from his professors and his pre-seminary study group and appreciates how they stretch and encourage him.

Christopher appreciates his God-given talents and uses his gifts in the band and on the track team. His excitement over learning Biblical languages feeds his sense of wonder. It is Christopher’s sincere desire to serve God as a pastor and he is using his unique skill-set to study and prepare for a pastoral calling.

Chris plans to graduate from Concordia and enter seminary with the hope of answering a call to a parish. He is also interested in radio ministry mission work. He wants to go where God sends him.
