Dr. Brandon Seifert, Concordia University, Nebraska 2001 graduate, was accepted into the Dr. James Andrews Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in Birmingham, Ala.

"This opportunity truly is a dream come true," said Seifert about the honor, one of the top orthopedic sports medicine fellowships in the world.

During his year-long stint as a fellow, Seifert will serve with a team of physicians for such organizations as the Washington Redskins, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, USA Baseball, the LPGA, World Wrestling Entertainment, Auburn University, and University of Alabama.  The fellowship begins August 2011.

After graduating from Concordia, Seifert worked as a bench chemist for LiCor Biosciences in Lincoln, before beginning medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2002. He currently is completing his orthopedic surgery residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Seifert feels that many of his experiences at Concordia prepared him for his success.  "The science courses at Concordia provided an excellent foundation for my medical school education.  More importantly, it was the relationships and guidance that I received from my professors and staff that have allowed me to continue to succeed in life."
