Visiting musician Andrew White performs at Concordia

Vocal artist Andrew White performs on Concordia’s campus Jan. 23, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Music Center.

Vocal artist Andrew White, a visiting musician from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, will perform at Concordia University, Nebraska Jan. 23, 2016, at 7 p.m. The performance will be held in the Recital Hall of the Music Center on campus. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

“Andrew is a wonderful baritone and colleague from the University of Nebraska at Kearney,” says Dr. Adrienne Dickson, adjunct music faculty member at Concordia. “His specialty is in French mé​lodie, but I am greatly looking forward to his presentation of English art song.”

White teaches musical theatre, voice lessons and vocal diction and literature at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He has previously worked at six other universities including Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Hiram College, University of Akron, Lake Erie College, Ashland University and Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music.

White’s operatic performances include roles such as Endymion in “Calisto,” Lord Chancellor in “Iolanthe,” Guglielmo in “Cosi fan tutte” and Claudio in “Beatrice and Benedict.” He has taken on roles such as Billy Bigalow in “Carousel,” Harold Hill in “The Music Man,” and Emile de Becque in “South Pacific” for musical performances.

White has also been awarded multiple achievements that include the Darius Milhaud Award, the Alpha Corinne Mayfield Opera Award and first prize at VARN and Richardson competitions.
