The Symphonic Band, Concordia’s premier instrumental organization, was formed in 1906 and tours throughout the United States.

The University Symphonic Band from Concordia crossed the upper Midwest on a five-day tour Feb. 29-Mar. 4. The band began its tour in Norfolk, Nebraska, and made stops in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Eagan and Mankato, Minnesota.

“Music can impact people in so many ways," said sophomore band member Tonya Johnson of Mason City, Neb. "I hope that the music will reach into the audience and remind them of something long forgotten or something that will draw them closer to the God of the universe.”

Aside from sharing music with audiences across the country, band members stayed overnight with host families. The band performed in four concerts and two worships services under the direction of Andrew Schultz, assistant professor of music.
