The University Chamber Choir is comprised of 16 voices selected from the University A Cappella Choir.

Diverse musical styles were on the program for a Concordia University Chamber Choir concert on Saturday, April 12, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. The public is invited to attend this free event.

The performance previewed the choir’s tour repertoire as it prepared for a 10-day tour of the upper western United States in May.

Songs included chamber choral anthems by Hans Leo Hassler, Henry Smart, Standford Scriven and René Clausen. Vocal jazz pieces included selections by Paris Rutherford, Take 6 and The Mamas & the Papas. The choir also sang well-known sacred hymns and spirituals.

Selected from the University A Cappella Choir, the elite 16-voice Chamber Choir formed in 1998. Since its founding, the choir has traveled to most regions of the United States, performing both sacred and secular music from all periods of musical history. The choir is conducted by Dr. Kurt von Kampen, professor of music at Concordia.
