Talented youngsters gather at Concordia

More than 1500 kindergarten through eighth grade students will have the opportunity to show their talents when they travel to Concordia University, Nebraska for the 67th annual Gathering of the Talents, Saturday, April 2. The students represent more than 50 Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod churches, elementary and middle schools from Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and South Dakota.

Participants may perform in music, drama and dance, and their art and creative writing submissions will be on display. Concordia faculty, staff and students supervise and judge all the day’s events.

Most performances and exhibitions begin at 9 a.m. at venues throughout campus:

Art: Displayed in the Cattle Conference Room of Janzow Campus Center

Creative writing: Displayed in the Cattle Conference Room of Janzow Campus Center

Dance: P.E. Building gym in the afternoon only

Drama: Thom Leadership Education Center

Music: Bands – P.E. Building gym in the morning only

Music: Solos and small ensembles – Music Center

Music: Choirs – St. John Lutheran Church

The closing ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in the gym in the P.E. Building. Ribbons for outstanding performances will be awarded. The public is welcome to attend the entire day’s events.
