Concordia University, Nebraska’s worship arts program marked a milestone with the opening of the new recording studio on campus.

Concordia student David Minster produced the first finished soundtrack from the new studio.  He recorded his original contemporary Christian song, “The Man,” as part of the worship arts program’s Songwriting for Contemporary Worship course.  During his recording sessions Minster was able to work with a variety of other musicians including drummer Phil Hendrickson, Professor Randy Snyder and vocalist Nayanna Holley.  Holley has toured as a back-up singer for Michael Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, the Dave Matthews band, Queen Latifah and Sheryl Crow. Her stop in Seward came on the heels of singing in Europe.

“The recording process was the most intense and yet most rewarding experience,” said Minster. “It was such a blessing to be given the opportunity to record the song I wrote with experienced and talented musicians. I mean, how often does anyone get to record their song with an incredible vocalist who had just flown in from France a couple of days before?"

The worship arts program was developed to train future and experienced church workers as they minister to different cultures and backgrounds in their church communities.  A certification and an academic minor are offered in the new program.
