Concordia and Four Corners Health Department co-sponsored the Resources, Response and Recovery for Rural Nebraska Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 29, and Friday, Sept. 30, in the Walz Human Performance Complex on the Concordia campus. The workshop, made possible with grant funding from the Nebraska Community Foundation, targeted clergy, crisis teams, community health educators, human care ministry teams, health professionals, social workers and college students.

The two-day workshop was designed to strengthen the capacity of local communities to prepare for and recover from disasters.

Concordia’s Dr. Renea Gernant and Dr. Lisa Ashby presented on older adults and disaster, and Dr. Dirk Reek served as part of the clergy panel at the workshop. Friday’s session covered psychological first aid training.
