A praise band from Concordia University, Nebraska led worship at a Five14 Revolution event in Chicago, Ill., on April 19.

The band, led by senior Kyle Soflin, was asked to perform by Sarah Guidalian, producer of the Five14 Revolution event. The six-member band traveled with worship arts program director Peter Prochnow and five other students who made up the group’s tech team.

Five14 Revolution is a ministry sponsored by the Lutheran Hour ministries. The Christian outreach organization finds its roots in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world.”  The purpose of the event, according to Soflin, was to bring the Gospel to urban, lower-income Chicago through music. The band played for nearly 250 people who attended the event.

“The people from the Five14 Revolution were so passionate about their ministry and their hearts were completely about bringing the lost to Jesus,” Soflin said. “We were honored to be a part of the experience.”

Prochnow said the event was not only a good way for students to share their ministry, but also a way to further Concordia’s worship arts outreach. “I pursued the opportunity when I heard about the new exciting ministry and saw the opportunity for our worship arts students to be involved in an innovative outreach ministry,” Prochnow said.

The band shared the stage with two alternative Christian rock bands, An Epic No Less and Of Time and Tide. Christian rap artist Mynista also performed.
