Pianist visits Concordia

Musician Paul Kenyon visited Concordia to give a piano recital titled “Benedictions: The final piano works of Mozart, Brahms, Debussy and Prokofiev" on Tuesday, March 5, in the Music Center’s recital hall.

Kenyon, professor of music and department chair at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Calif., visited Concordia as part of a short tour of the Midwest. During the tour, Kenyon gave piano recitals and offered master classes and workshops in piano technique. 

In addition to the recital at Concordia, Kenyon worked with students the following morning in a piano master class. The workshop was open to the public to observe as well.

Born in upstate New York, Kenyon earned his doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance from Michigan State University. He also holds degrees from Mansfield University and Bowling Green State University, with additional studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario. Kenyon performs with the Trio Point Loma, a resident faculty chamber ensemble. Previously, he taught at Western Michigan University and Wright State University in Ohio.
