New 2011 faculty and staff join Concordia

Concordia officially welcomed several new faculty and staff members for the 2011-12 academic year at its opening worship service on Sunday, Aug. 22.
Faculty
Dr. Matthew Buns, assistant professor of Health and Human Performance: Buns graduated from Concordia in 2004 and taught at Concordia Academy in Omaha for several years before doing his graduate work. Following the completion of his doctorate, he moved to Chicago to serve Concordia University Chicago as an assistant professor of human performance and an assistant track and cross country coach.
Timothy Heidorn, assistant professor of Business Administration and Economics: Heidorn earned his MBA at Indiana University-Bloomington and both a master’s and a bachelor’s from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has a variety of experiences in the business area including working in Taipei, Taiwan for 16 years. Last academic year he was an adjunct professor for Concordia.
Dr. Brent Royuk, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences: Royuk, professor of physics, assumes the responsibility as the dean of the College of Arts and Science.
Academic Staff
Corey Gray, career counselor: Gray, an Army veteran, previously worked at the Nebraska Department of Labor as a veteran employment representative.
Administrative Staff
Zachary Fisher, athletic equipment and operations manager: A Concordia graduate, Fisher assumes the position as athletic equipment and operations manager. He is originally from Houston, Texas.
Carrie Merry, university events manager: Merry returns to her alma mater after working at Lincoln Lutheran High School as the development assistant/recruitment coordinator.
Brett Muller, head men’s and women’s golf coach: Muller previously has served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Concordia and is currently the pro shop manager at Thornridge Country Club in Milford.
Lori Read, accountant: Read most recently was a financial analyst at Crete Carrier in Lincoln.
Jacob Schmidt system analyst/programmer infrastructure support: Schmidt was an IT and network operations center supervisor in Harlingen, Texas, before returning to his alma mater.
Daneen Kovar Theye, head dance and cheer coach, athletic business coordinator: A Seward native, Kovar Theye takes charge of the dance and cheer programs after working with the Orange Grove Dancers of Tennessee and most recently in the offices of School District 145 in Waverly.
