Meet Studia Vitae instructor Lisa Moreno ‘89

Lisa Moreno ‘89 taught in Lutheran schools as a called teacher for 15 years before getting her masters' degree in school counseling. She has worked as a school counselor in Nebraska public schools for 19 years at various levels. Seeing a need for a better understanding of trauma, she has sought to make herself an expert on the subject and is eager to share her knowledge with other educators.
In May, Moreno will also serve as an instructor for Concordia University, Nebraska’s non-credit continuing education and lifelong learning program called Studia Vitae, teaching a course titled “Trauma Informed Schools and Classrooms.” Studia Vitae offers Christ-centered continuing education opportunities in a variety of focused areas through an online scheduled and self-paced learning platform.
Moreno’s Studia Vitae course is designed for educators and administrators but open to everyone and explores the impact that trauma and stress have on learning and how trauma-informed practices can develop trusting relationships and lead to positive outcomes for students and their learning communities.
Registration is now open for the "Trauma Informed Schools and Classrooms" course and additional offerings in Concordia University, Nebraska’s Studia Vitae program. Each CEU course is $150 and is delivered in six one-hour sessions. Exclusive pricing is available for program participants who are members of preferred partner organizations. The short, focused sessions are available as scheduled webinars that will also be recorded for future viewing. Enrollment is flexible and open to anyone with no prerequisites required, and no commitment is needed to take additional classes.
