Marxhausen Gallery of Art announces 2014-15 exhibit schedule
The Marxhausen Gallery of Art at Concordia announces its art exhibition schedule for the 2014-15 academic year. The gallery hosts a number of regional and nationally acclaimed art exhibitions, as well as faculty and student shows.
“Two must-see shows this year are ‘Golden Legacy: Original Art from 65 Years of Golden Books’ and the solo exhibition, ‘Charley Friedman: Recent Work,’” said Director of the Marxhausen Gallery of Art James Bockelman. “The Golden Legacy’s hand-drawn illustrations are a rare treat for anyone in Nebraska to see. And second semester, Charley Friedman’s solo exhibition will range in media from large-scale self-portrait photographs to sculptures made from things such as sponges, beach balls, running water and performance video. Though our exhibitions are diverse, they all reflect the mission of the gallery.”
The gallery’s mission is to provide local and regional communities with opportunities to appreciate and understand the role of art and culture through its collection, exhibition programs and educational opportunities.

Open house: Friday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. with presentation at 1:30 p.m., Marxhausen Gallery
Nov. 9–Dec. 17
“Artistic Impressions: The Art of T.J. Koch”
Opening reception: Nov. 16, 1 to 4 p.m. with public talk at 2 p.m., Thom Leadership Education Center Auditorium
Jan. 12–Feb. 20
“Charley Friedman: Recent Work”
Opening reception: Sunday, Jan. 25, 1 to 4 p.m. with gallery talk at 2 p.m., Thom Leadership Education Center Auditorium
Feb. 22–March 27
“Biennial Faculty Exhibition”

All exhibits are open to the public and free of charge. The Marxhausen Gallery is located in Jesse Hall and is open Monday–Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed when classes are not in session.
