The Looking Beyond Speaker Series at Concordia welcomed Dr. Merold Westphal on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m.

“Dr. Westphal is a prolific author widely recognized for his writing in the questions of postmodernism and the Christian faith,” Dirk Reek, assistant professor of theology at Concordia, said.

Westphal, emeritus professor of philosophy at Fordham University in New York, addressed questions of faith in the postmodern contexts of Martin Luther and Søren Kierkegaard. Westphal’s studies and writings emphasize the integrity of individual thinkers in debate, religion and politics.

The Looking Beyond Speaker Series is made possible through an ongoing gift from Martin and Regina Maehr. The series was created to expose Concordia students and the Seward community to diverse speakers and ideas.
