Get to know Concordia Nebraska Alumni Council’s Dr. Robert M. (Mickey) Ebert ‘04

Dr. Robert M. (Mickey) Ebert ‘04 serves on the Concordia University, Nebraska Alumni Council. For several years, he also served the university as an adjunct professor in the education department. He has a bachelor of science degree in education from Concordia Nebraska, a master’s degree in educational leadership from St. Leo University and a doctor ate in organizational leadership from Southeastern University.
“I am a proud graduate of Concordia Nebraska. My time at Concordia helped lay the foundation for my career in education and my commitment to faith-based leadership. As a volunteer on the Alumni Council, I help support alumni engagement efforts, provide input on alumni programming, assist with event planning and outreach and help foster stronger connections between the university and its alumni,” he said. “I also serve as a representative voice of alumni, helping to advocate for initiatives that benefit both current students and graduates.”
Ebert said that throughout his education and career, he has developed a deep passion for advocating for students in rural, underserved communities.
“My dissertation focused on the positive influence of athletics on GPA and graduation rates in rural Title I school districts,” he said. “I felt called to study the impact of extracurricular activities, especially athletics, on academic success and long-term student outcomes in these areas.”
“Even beyond these formal roles, I’ve continued to stay connected to the university through events, alumni initiatives, and ongoing support of its mission,” he said. “My current professional role is as a high school administrator in the Gainesville, Florida, area. I also serve as an adjunct professor and dissertation committee member at California Baptist University, where I work with doctoral candidates. My ongoing connection to higher education allows me to stay engaged in mentoring the next generation of leaders.”
He said he loves interacting with students both at the secondary and college levels, helping guide them toward their future goals.
“What makes Concordia truly special is its Christ-centered atmosphere. The sense of community and shared faith is evident in every part of campus life. It’s a place that not only educated me academically but also shaped me spiritually, personally and professionally.”
“Whether it’s assisting high school students in navigating their next steps or coaching doctoral candidates through the dissertation process, I find great fulfillment in helping individuals discover their purpose, develop their potential and pursue their passions,” he said. “I especially enjoy mentoring students from underserved or rural backgrounds, helping them see the opportunities available to them and encouraging them to dream big.”
Ebert said that Concordia Nebraska has always felt like home to him.
“What makes Concordia truly special is its Christ-centered atmosphere. The sense of community and shared faith is evident in every part of campus life. It’s a place that not only educated me academically but also shaped me spiritually, personally and professionally,” he said. “My time at Concordia Nebraska helped strengthen my identity as a Christ follower, as a parent and as an educator. The relationships I built and the values instilled in me during my years there continue to influence my life and leadership every day.”
While his time on campus as a student was very formative, he said that his current service to the university continues to impact him each day, he said.
“While I initially got involved with Concordia as a way to give back, I quickly realized how deeply the university continued to pour into me. Serving on the Alumni Council has reminded me of the importance of Christ-centered leadership and lifelong faith formation,” he said. “The more I reflect on my time at Concordia Nebraska, the more I recognize the profound impact it had on my spiritual growth. That experience continues to inspire me to share Christ’s love in my work, my home and my community. I often encourage students and families to consider Concordia Nebraska because I know firsthand the lifelong value of a Concordia education.”
Ebert and his wife Jamie have three children: Colton, Taylor and Chloe.
“As a family, we’re heavily involved in youth athletics. We love attending their school and travel sports events,” he said. “We also enjoy traveling, taking day trips and spending quality time together. Our family is actively involved in our local church, where we participate in ministry, service projects and community outreach. I’m passionate about education, faith, leadership development and community engagement.”
Ebert said he strongly believes in the mission of Concordia Nebraska and feels called to help carry that mission forward for future generations.
“I currently serve as a high school administrator, where I lead with a focus on equity, access and student success, especially in underserved communities,” he said. “My work is rooted in my passion for creating meaningful educational experiences and supporting students as whole individuals academically, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe that leadership is about service, and I strive to live that out in all areas of my work and life. I’m honored to represent Concordia as an alum and hope to continue giving back to the university in any way I can.”
