Concordia’s University Chamber Choir will embark on a three-day, five-stop tour of Nebraska Feb. 25-27, visiting churches in Grand Island, Hampton, Columbus, Battle Creek and Wayne.

The University Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Kurt E. von Kampen, was formed in the fall of 1998 and has gained a reputation for excellence in the singing of chamber vocal music and vocal jazz. The 14-voice select choir, chosen from the 72-voice University A Cappella Choir, sings a diverse repertoire of sacred and secular choral music from many historical periods.

This year’s tour will include compositions by Tomas Luis de Victoria, John Ness Beck, Kevin Siegfried, Derek Hakes, Anders Edenroth, J. David Moore and David von Kampen.

In previous years, the choir has traveled extensively throughout the U.S., including concert tours to New York, Maryland, Delaware, California, Arizona, Nevada, Florida and throughout the Midwest. Significant Chamber Works performed by the choir include Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, Randall Thompson’s The Peaceable Kingdom, and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
