Concordia University A Cappella to Perform at Nebraska Music Educators Association Conference
The Concordia University A Cappella Choir has been invited to perform for the Nebraska Music Educators Association Conference and Clinic at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
The A Cappella was selected by audition as one of only six vocal ensembles from Nebraska to perform this year. Music educators from all over the state of Nebraska and All-State high school musicians will be in attendance.
“It is a great honor to be selected again this year,” said Dr. Kurt von Kampen, professor of music and conductor of the choir. “We're only eligible to apply every three years and since 1999 we’ve been selected each time we have auditioned.”
The choir will perform “All Creatures of Our God and King” by Walton Music, arranged by Anders Edenroth; “Flood the Gold Earth” by David von Kampen; “O Magnum Mysterium” by Tomas Louis de Victoria; “Kyrie from African Mass” by Norman Luboff and “Sing We and Chant It” by Thomas Morley.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Concordia University’s internationally acclaimed A Cappella Choir has enjoyed a long tradition of fine choral singing since its inception in 1939. As one of three auditioned vocal ensembles at Concordia, the choir’s membership consists of both music majors and students from other disciplines.
The choir performs full-length concerts, high school assemblies and church worship services. The repertoire of sacred and secular choral compositions spans all historical periods and is representative of many cultures.
