With the announced closing of Dana College on June 30, the administration of Concordia University, Nebraska has moved to streamline the transfer of students from Dana looking for a new school. Concordia's Viking Plan was approved Monday morning:

  • All of Dana’s academic scholarships will be matched by Concordia
  • All academic credit from Dana will transfer to Concordia
  • Enrollment deposits have been reduced from $300 to $100.
  • Priority consideration for available rooms will be given to Dana students

“We've put together a response that tries to help Dana students make an easy transition to Concordia,” said Scott Seevers, vice president for enrollment. “This is, no doubt, a stressful time for a lot of Dana students and parents. With our Christian environment, Lutheran heritage and Nebraska location, we feel Dana students would find a great home here.”

Concordia's admission counselors have been brought up to date on the situation and meeting the needs of Dana transfers and those who were intending to start at Dana this fall. The university's student services office will also give priority to these students for available housing.

“We want to make their shift to Concordia a good experience,” said Chara Sype, assistant director of student life. “Dorm life is a big part of that.”
