Concordia University, Nebraska’s Handbell Choirs will perform in a concert on April 25, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the Music Center’s Recital Hall on campus.

Concordia University, Nebraska, Handbell Choir and Handbell Choir II will perform at 7 p.m., April 25, 2017 in the Music Center’s Recital Hall on Concordia’s campus.

“Both Concordia Handbell Choirs will be playing pieces featuring our newest chime, the bass C2,” said Jessica Kite, director. “It has a wonderful low sound that really enhances the music played by the ensemble.”

The handbell choirs will perform pieces such as “Music to Do Taxes By,” “Fantasy,” “All Creatures of Our God and King” and “Were You There,” to name a few.

In addition, the Concordia Handbell Choir released their first CD, “Faithful,” last week. The 14-track CD is available through the Concordia University, Nebraska, bookstore or online here.

The CD will also be available for purchase before and after the concert.

Additionally, Concordia’s spring Jazzfest will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church at 2433 Progressive Road in Seward, Nebraska. This program will showcase the University’s jazz choir and jazz band. JazzFest will feature a variety of jazz, swing and blues pieces from both the jazz choir and jazz band.

Under the direction of Dr. Kurt vonKampen, the Jazz Choir performs standard jazz and pop influenced choral music.

Directed by professor Andrew Schultz, the Jazz band will perform “Take the “A” Train” by Bill Strayhorn and “The Delta Rhythm Boys Splanky” by Neil Hefti. Additional works include pieces by Alan Lerner, Frederick Loewe, Cole Porter and Joe Garland.
