Concordia Nebraska’s Dr. Angie Fedon honored with Blackboard Exemplary Course Award

Concordia University, Nebraska today announced that Director of Classroom Innovation & Online Education Dr. Angie Fedon was recognized by her peers with the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program (ECP) Award. The ECP Award recognizes faculty and course designers from schools, colleges and universities around the world who develop engaging and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning. 

“Dr. Angie Fedon is dedicated to teaching Concordia's master's level students with engaging and practical online classroom experiences. She intentionally designs high quality content and learning experiences that have purpose and directly apply to her students' teaching and leading in their own classrooms,” said Concordia Nebraska Head of Teacher Education and Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences Dr. Lorinda Sankey. “Additionally, Angie leads Concordia's Instructional Design Team with excellence as her team integrates Angie's educational experience and practice into all of Concordia's online graduate courses.”

Fedon was selected a winner for course EDUC 506 - Integrating Technology, one of the university’s courses in the Master of Education – Curriculum and Instruction graduate program. The course demonstratedexcellence in four areas: 

  • Course Design – Recognized for a thoughtfully structured course with clear learning objectives, engaging content and effective instructional strategies. 

  • Interaction and Collaboration – Celebrated for fostering meaningful interaction between learners and instructors and creating opportunities for collaboration that build a strong learning community. 

  • Assessment – Honored for the use of high-quality assessment practices that support learning outcomes, provide timely feedback and enable effective evaluation of student progress. 

  • Learner Support – Commended for providing accessible, well-integrated support resources that help learners navigate the course and succeed. 

For nearly two decades, the ECP has honored instructors and course designers whose courses demonstrate best practices. Since its founding, thousands of instructors, teachers and designers have used the ECP to evaluate and improve their courses with recognized best practices. To be considered for the honor, applicants must be a user of Blackboard LMS, the learning management system. Submitted courses are evaluated by other course developers, instructional designers, teachers and professors using the ECP Rubric.
