Concordia Nebraska welcomes 48 students at “A Life Called” church work event

Concordia University, Nebraska recently hosted a special event titled “A Life Called” that allowed prospective students and their families to explore the university’s church work programs.
Forty-eight students gathered at the university in early October to learn more about Concordia Nebraska’s six church work programs: director of Christian education, director of parish music, Lutheran Teacher Diploma, classical Lutheran educator certification, pre-deaconess and pre-seminary. Participants had the opportunity to sit in on church work classes and learn alongside students while also engaging with church work faculty. Guests also had the opportunity to tour campus, stay in the residence halls with host students and learn about the university’s financial aid opportunities.
“You can read a brochure, and you can check out a website, but there’s just no substitute for spending some time on campus to meet students, faculty and staff,” explained Concordia Nebraska’s Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Church Work Recruiter Aaron Rohde. “Concordia welcomed these students and their families with the love of Christ overflowing. The event left me humbled to be involved with such a faith community and inspired for further service so that future generations will know of God’s love in Christ Jesus, our Lord.”

The event included an icebreaker and team-building activities for event guests, and the group had the opportunity to join Concordia Nebraska students for the campus’ Sunday evening Attic Bible study, a student-led campfire music and devotional time and an Evening Prayer worship service. Guests were paired with current university students to allow them to also experience dorm life, rehearsals, classes and additional meaningful conversations that acquainted guests with Concordia Nebraska.
“Thanks and praise to God for continuing to raise up those who plan to serve Him in such blessed vocations!” added Rohde.
