Concordia inducted three students on May 9 into the Mu Beta chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, an international geographic honor society.

“By meeting the academic criteria for inclusion into Gamma Theta Upsilon, these three young men are recognized as excelling in the study of geography and are well positioned to pursue careers in a variety of fields,” said Joel Helmer, associate professor of geography and chair of the social science department.

Members of GTU must have completed a minimum of three geography courses, maintained a GPA of at least 3.3 overall and completed at least three semesters of collegiate course work to be eligible for induction.

Gamma Theta Upsilon became a national organization in 1931. It aims to support geography knowledge and awareness by offering professional academic and laboratory opportunities, encouraging high-quality research and promoting geography as a cultural and practical discipline for students.

Inductees include:

Adam Faulstich, senior, Sedalia, Mo.

Joshua Grass, senior, Marshall, Mo.

Brian Maxson, senior, Colorado Springs, Colo.
