Concordia hosts 2010 Early Childhood Conference

The 11th annual Early Childhood Conference, "Do You See What I See?" was held at Concordia Wednesday, June 16. The conference brings together individuals from diverse areas who are involved with the education of young children from birth to age 8. Dr. Ellen Hall and Dr. George Forman were the keynote speakers. The luncheon speaker was Paul Soulek.

Hall and Forman are co-founders of Videatives, Inc. Videatives help reveal children's thinking through a combination of short video clips of children learning and notes based on close observation by experts.

Hall also is the founder and executive director of Boulder Journey School in Boulder, Colo., and director of the teacher education program developed at the school in partnership with the University of Colorado, Denver and the Colorado Department of Education. Forman is an emeritus professor of education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has authored and edited several books focused on the learning processes of young children.

Director of parish music at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward, Paul Soulek uses music to teach the treasures of the Christian faith.
