Concordia  again was named to the top tier in a U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 “America’s Best Colleges” ranking, this time in the Regional University- Midwest category.

Based on its overall score of 50, Concordia Nebraska is the highest ranked school in the 10-member Concordia University System.

“It’s a national nod of approval,” said Concordia president, Dr. Brian Friedrich. “We appreciate it and see it as a tribute to the work our faculty and staff do to provide excellent academics in a Christ-centered environment.”

Within the U.S. News ranking categories, Concordia moved from the Regional College to the Regional University group because of the growth of its graduate programs. Concordia also joined Creighton University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln on the “A-Plus Schools for B Students” list. The schools on this list were identified as basing admission on more than just academics, striving for a broad, engaged student body. According to U.S. News, students have a “decent shot at thriving” at these schools because “spirit and hard work could make all the difference.”

The rankings group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Criteria evaluated included peer assessment, retention and graduation rates, faculty resources, student selectivity and alumni support.
