Concordia’s University Symphonic Band and University Concert Band performed a joint concert on Sunday, Oct. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward.

The University Symphonic Band is Concordia’s oldest continuing musical ensemble. The band is open to all students by audition and plays sacred, multicultural and contemporary literature in addition to traditional repertoire. For this concert, the Symphonic Band performed “Sinfonia Voci” by David Holsinger, “The Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre, “Shepherd’s Hey” by Percy Grainger and “The Big Cage” by Karl King.

The University Concert Band, formerly the University/Community Band, is made up of students and area community members that rehearse once a week. The Concert Band played “Henderson Field March” by Karl King, “Deerpath Dances” by David Holsinger and “Voices of the Sky” by Samuel Hazo.
