Concordia alum presents organ recital

Joel Bejot performed an organ recital at Concordia June 23.

Joel Bejot, a 2004 graduate of Concordia from Castle Rock, Colo., gave an organ recital on Sunday, June 23, that included pieces by J. S. Bach, Charles-Marie Widor, William Matthias, Concordia Professor Emeritus Charles Ore and the mammoth “Prelude and Fugue on BACH” by Franz Liszt. He performed on Concordia’s 38-rank Casavant Frères organ, which was installed in the Music Center in 2008.

“This place played such a pivotal role in my musical, spiritual, and personal formation, and I am very happy to contribute to the artistic scene of Seward,” said Bejot. 

Joel Bejot is the Director of Music at Faith Lutheran Church, Castle Rock, Colo., where he directs the adult choir and two children’s choirs, oversees the direction of two bands and a strings ensemble, and plays organ and piano for weekly worship. Bejot has also sung with three Denver-area professional chamber choirs.

Bejot graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music, Parish Music-Organ concentration. He studied literature, improvisation, and service playing with Dr. Jeff Blersch and Dr. Charles Ore.

In 2010, Joel Bejot received his Master of Music in organ performance from Denver University. While there, he studied literature and improvisation with Dr. Joseph Galema, who is also the director of music at the United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel. Bejot has played master classes with Dr. James Kibbie, Dr. Joseph Galema, and Dr. Horst Buchholz, and has also studied with Stephen Egler.
