Pat Coldiron, owner of Liberty House Bed and Breakfast in Seward, Neb., was honored with the Outstanding Woman in Business Award at a Concordia University, Nebraska luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The eight-year old event recognizes the achievements of female business professionals in the greater Seward community. It is sponsored by Concordia’s Students In Free Enterprise group and Concordia Foundation Inc.

Coldiron, a Seward resident since 1996, opened the Liberty House nine years ago. She also has been involved with the Seward Chamber of Commerce, serving as its executive director.

At the luncheon, Alison Sandall, SIFE president, described Coldiron as a woman who has made her dreams into a reality through her passion and determination. Concordia’s President Brian Friedrich also commented on Coldiron’s passion, calling her “ a cheerleader for Seward.” He shared that Coldiron had cited perseverance, faith in herself and faith in God as three things that helped her to be successful.

Coldiron accepted the award saying she was the luckiest person in the world.

“The experience at the chamber and the experience at Liberty House have been life changing,” said Coldiron. “Even though there are points of despair in running your own business, I get to work with my sisters and my family. Not many people get to do that, and it’s a wonderful thing.”

Family members, business and university leaders, past Woman in Business Award winners and students from Concordia’s SIFE group all were present to recognize Coldiron’s accomplishments in business and in the community.
