Bestselling author speaks at Concordia

New York Times bestselling author Victorine Lieske presented “Publishing in the World Today,” a lecture on self-publishing and utilizing ereaders, as part of Concordia’s Looking Beyond lecture series Nov. 8.
Lieske, a Seward resident, self-published her first book, Not What She Seems, in April 2010 as an ebook. The romantic suspense novel stayed on the New York Times ebook bestseller list for six weeks. In 2011 Lieske released her second ebook, The Overtaking, a young adult romance. Lieske then worked through CreateSpace, a self-publishing website, to make both titles available in paperback.
Dr. Kathy Miller, professor of sociology and one of the organizers for Concordia’s annual speaker series, had a hand in bringing Lieske to campus.
“The Looking Beyond Series was created because we felt that as a university we should be exposing our students to speakers and ideas that may not normally be part of their lives,” said Miller. “Victorine Lieske was a speaker I had heard locally and thought she was excellent and timely.”
The presentation was made possible through an ongoing gift from Martin and Regina Maehr.
