Alumni and community members invited to Homecoming and Alumni Reunion 2021 Weekend at Concordia University, Nebraska

The 2016 Homecoming football game at Concordia is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. against Briar Cliff University.

Alumni of Concordia University, Nebraska will be welcomed back to campus Oct. 7–9 for special events during the 2016 Homecoming and Alumni Reunion Weekend.

“Concordia is looking forward to welcoming back alumni for a wonderful weekend of reunions, social events, games and good cheer,” said Brian Friedrich, president of the university. “We thank God for the opportunity to have alumni and their families reconnect with one another and rediscover their favorite memories of Concordia.”

Honored class reunion gatherings on campus during the weekend include the Concordia High School Class of 1966.

In addition, all alumni who have studied art at Concordia are invited to participate in celebrating the department’s rich history of academic rigor and beloved professors. Honored year reunions will be those ending in 6 and 1. The art program celebration includes an open house at the Marxhausen Gallery, highlighting Concordia’s art history through an exhibit called “LINES: Selections from Concordia’s Permanent Collection.” The exhibit is open Friday, Oct. 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A free homecoming fair with games and other activities will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The C.G. “Kelly” and Virginia Holthus Family Plaza.

A pre-game tailgate meal for Homecoming attendees and the public will be held starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Janzow Campus Center cafeteria and on The C.G. “Kelly” and Virginia Holthus Family Plaza. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Concordia’s football game versus Briar Cliff University kicks off at 1 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium. 

Concordia will honor several selected alumni and friends of the university who have demonstrated excellent service in the church and the world. Honorees include:

  • Alumnus of the Year: Tim Moll ’89  
  • Young Alumni of the Year: Dr. Brandon ’01 and Dr. Vanessa Seifert CO ’02 GR ’06
  • Partners in Mission & Ministry Award: Larry HS ’61 CO ’65 and Bonnie Noack ’66
  • Honorary Alumni Award: Rev. Dr. Harvey and Carol Lange
  • Church Leadership Award: Dan Seim HS ’61 CO ’65

Concordia will also induct several former Bulldog athletes into the Concordia Athletic Hall of Fame:

  • John Puelz ’92, Men’s Basketball
  • Phil Seevers ’89, Football/Baseball
  • Stan Stewart ’03, Football
  • Whitney Stichka ’09, Women’s Basketball
  • 1994-95 Men’s Basketball Team

Visitors to campus are welcome to explore campus buildings; visit with faculty, staff and students; enjoy meals; attend event receptions and cheer on the Bulldogs at athletic events.
